Don Acker, CPA
Don began his career working in industry for government contractors such as McDonald Bradley, Inc., Subsystem Technologies, and Eagle Design and Management. In 2003 Don joined American Express Tax and Business Services (TBS) (now RSM McGladrey) to lead the Outsourced CFO effort for the government contracting group. After the acquisition of TBS by RSM McGladrey in 2005, Don joined Federal Strategies Group to focus on helping small to mid-size companies and continue what he had started at TBS with CFO Outsourcing. In late 2007 Don returned to the private industry and joined InfoZen, Inc. as their Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure at InfoZen the company grew 48% and was recognized by Deloitte Fast 50, Washington Business Journal‘s Fast 50, was ranked in the top 5th of companies for growth by Inc. 5000, and Don himself was recognized as one of the SmartCFO’s by SmartCEO magazine. Don is an active CPA in the State of Maryland, a member of the MACPA and AICPA, and was the past Chair for the Government Contractors Committee of the MACPA.
During a career that spans over 22 years in both public and private accounting, Heather has obtained extensive experience and expertise in covering accounting, finance, government contracts, and management of accounting departments and audit teams. She has provided services to employers and clients that ensure compliance with accounting and federal contracting rules and regulations while committing to the highest level of integrity, rules and ethics.
Heather holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Marquette University. She passed the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) exam in November 1994.
Kathy brings with her over twenty years of public and private accounting experience where she has served as a Controller, Chief Financial Officer and a Consultant. Her areas of specialization include Government Cost Accounting Principles, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Indirect Rate Development, Proposal Preparation, Project/Cost Accounting Systems, Financial Reporting and Inventory. Her experience includes client/company representation during DCAA, and related agency audits, resolution of federal contracting standard compliance issues, a liaison between Contracting Officers and clients/company, contract closeout requests, incurred cost submissions, requests for equitable adjustments, cost proposals, Service Contract Act issues, Disclosure Statements, Forward Pricing agreements and indirect rate development. Kathy is proficient in using and implementing Deltek GCS Premier and has advanced working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint. Kathy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland in 1990, and a MBA with a Finance concentration from Loyola College in 1998.
Carmen has over twenty five years of progressively responsible professional experience in Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Business Management. Carmen has expertise in cost accounting and activity-based costing, rate development, proposal development, and project and contract management. She has expert knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and is highly proficient in Deltek GCS Premier, CostPoint, Impromptu, and Deltek Electronic Timesheets; as well as Timberline and QuickBooks.
